26 Apr LEGISLATION FOR CARGO SECURING AND WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION IN BELGIUM
As an ISO 9001 certified company, we want to make sure that you can always rely on our expertise. Therefore, we attended a very useful presentation about cargo securing and weight distribution.
Legislation
The info session was organized by all the Belgian Transport Federations and the road police. They showed several examples of the consequences of a wrong cargo securing, which can have a massive impact. For that reason, the legislation is renewed and each party has to take its responsibility.
Now the carrier, loader, sender, shipper and packer can a.o. be held responsible for:
- wrong packing of the cargo;
- wrong usage of the appropriate vehicle;
- incorrect application of the cargo securing rules.
Moreover, sharing the correct information between all parties about the loading method, weight, sizes and adhesion coefficient should also improve cargo securing.
Responsibilities of each party
Febetra, UPTR and Transport & Logistiek Vlaanderen, jointly created an overview of the legal responsibilities of each party involved in English, German, French and Dutch.
